The Maïa Art project is part of the overall mission of the Maia Baudelaire Foundation to carry out humanitarian actions internationally. By offering an artist residency to artists, the Maia Baudelaire Foundation contributes to the promotion of Nepali culture while allowing artists to develop their own art.
The artist residency is also a means for the Maia Baudelaire Foundation to create bridges between cultures and to promote intercultural exchanges. By allowing artists to work together, discover Nepali culture, and perform internationally, the Maia Baudelaire Foundation contributes to the creation of a more open and tolerant world.
The Maïa Art program consists of two residencies per year, each lasting three months, hosting five artists each. The support is provided at different levels, thanks to qualified professionals in music production, but also with yoga classes, various outdoor activities, as well as outings in the country and participation in shows.
During the residency, the artists work on their artistic projects in collaboration with other resident artists and facilitators. The objective is to promote exchanges and artistic synergies among the participants. Following the residencies, the successful projects are given a video clip shot for one of their projects, and we offer them a public end-of-residency event to perform in front of an audience.
Maïa Art is therefore a unique opportunity for artists to work on their artistic projects while benefiting from professional support, the chance to recharge in an idyllic setting, and the opportunity to participate in cultural activities to nourish their inspiration. Personal development and the evolution of personal projects are particularly dear to us. Yoga sessions, intervention by a psychotherapist, and personalized follow-ups are on the agenda during these 3 months of residency.
But that’s not all, as the artists also benefit from the opportunity to perform internationally.
Indeed, the Maia Baudelaire Foundation wishes to offer the resident artists the opportunity to perform internationally. For this, we propose those that seem most appropriate to us for European festivals or in Morocco. This allows artists to promote their work and to introduce Nepali culture internationally.
One of the unique features of the Maïa Art program is that the artistic residencies take place in the village of Khokana, near the school we built in cooperation with the Sahayogi Nepal association.
This proximity is a chance for the children of the school who can thus attend performances by international artists, allowing them to discover other social and cultural practices.
In an environment primarily oriented towards the working class, this opens children’s minds to broader horizons and encourages them to develop their creativity. By offering a varied cultural program to children, we hope to stimulate their interest in art, music, and dance, and perhaps even inspire vocations.
We are convinced that culture is a vector for social change and development, and we are doing everything possible to promote it in the region.
If you wish to get involved in the projects of the Maia Baudelaire Foundation, you can help the foundation by making a donation.
There are only big hearts, whatever your donation, it makes a difference! Every penny has a positive impact.
Don’t wait any longer, make a donation to the Maïa Baudelaire Foundation according to your means.
In short, the food distributions by the Maia Baudelaire Foundation are an important project to help the most vulnerable populations in the region. This aid is provided regularly and coordinated with the other programs of the Foundation, such as the school and the clinic, in order to create a chain of solidarity and support for the local populations.
Finally, through a volunteer program, we give French representatives the opportunity to accompany the children and the teaching staff by offering fun activities and even language courses for the more skilled.
Several volunteers have already been welcomed, with very positive results for both the children and the volunteers in question.
